Perseverance
Romans 5:1-5
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
This summer when I was in New York and talking to people about coming back for a year, a guy told me that the first few months would be like the "honeymoon phase" where I would love New York and then later it would fade away. Well these first couple of months have been no honeymoon! It has not been terrible either though. When I'm teaching English to our students and sharing the Gospel with them, I know I am exactly where I belong for this season.
The enemy has been trying so hard to get me down and put me in negative mindsets and I keep getting sick here and I found dead mice in a trap. But, I know that he has been defeated already and all his trying is to no avail because Christ has already won. This is just making me trust in God more and have a deeper relationship with Him.
Also, it's really humbling that God chose to love us and reconcile us to Himself, even though our righteousness was as filthy, dead, rotten, mice and their droppings. We were so disgusting but He is so compassionate and chooses to gift us with eternity when we believe, repent, trust, and obey. It's so beautiful.
Last Monday (2/10) I had lunch with my friend Grace and she gave me such good wisdom and encouragement. She is from Korea and became a believer there and became a missionary. She has so many stories of how God has worked in her and others. I also was able to talk to Camille about a lot of things and received wisdom from her. I am so thankful that God has given me people to mentor me here. This night in class, there was a Christian Bengali couple who came to class! This is such a great open door for them to share Christ with Bengali Muslims.
So, I didn't update last week because I felt terrible and had strep throat! Woo hoo! Wednesday (2/12) Grace went to the doctor with me and we had lunch too. It was so kind of her to do that. She's like my mom here. She makes sure I eat well and get enough sleep too.
Seminary work has been so overwhelming because I had to catch up on some reading but it has been so rewarding. I really enjoy my classes. I am also so thankful for the church families that I have back in Mississippi and in New York. One lady and her daughter took me out to lunch today and that was such a blessing.
May the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,

- Please pray for our students, that they would accept Christ as their Savior and be discipled, and then start discipling others. Pray for some of them by name: Chador, Jampa, Tenzin, Tsering, Rumy, Rabia, Phintso, May, Nyima, Julie, Emma, and Dolma.
- Pray for our missionaries and volunteers. Pray that they get the rest they need. Pray that they would be provided for financially.
- Pray for my friend Lauren who is awaiting results from job interviews. Pray that God would show her clearly what job she should take.
- Pray for a volunteer's godson who was injured very badly, his name is Isaac.
- Pray for my friend Tanisha to be provided with an apartment.
- Pray for missionary Rebekah to be provided with a car and a job.
- Pray for broken relationships to be healed within families.
- Pray that Urban Nations and their church plants will be provided with everything they need.
- Pray for Camille to have a quick delivery and for her and Jim as they embark on the new journey of parenthood.
- Pray for my other friend Lauren as she is preparing to spend a semester in a foreign country ministering to rejected women.
- Pray for me as I am getting back intensive blood work back on 2/26.
May the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
