I'm Leaving On a Jet Plane

Around this time tomorrow, I will be at the airport getting on a plane to New York City. I will be meeting up with a friend named Lauren who was also an intern this summer with me. My bags are almost completely packed. Two days after Lauren and I get there, another missionary named Tosha is coming to work with Urban Impact (in January the name changes to Urban Nations Outreach). We will hit the road running. When we get there, there will be a mission team from Texas there so already we have a busy schedule.

  • Please pray for all the UNO missionaries and staff members: Larry Holcomb and his family(Linda, Josh, Victoria, Ben, Grace); Camille, Loukia and Ajay; Rebekah; Tosha; Lauren. There are also many, many volunteers that help teach ESL classes and I cannot begin to list all of their names but God knows who they are so please lift them up in prayer as well. Pray that God will be their strength. Pray that they would be shielded from the enemy. Pray that God gives them wisdom to know when to rest. Pray that God would continue to use them as his vessels and disciplers.

  • Pray for all ESL students at the West African Center; Cityline Center; All Nations Center; and the South Asian Center. Pray that every person that steps through the door would hear and accept the Gospel. Also pray for them to receive visions and dreams of Jesus Christ (this is how many past Muslims have accepted Jesus Christ as their savior).

  • Pray for all the children who come to Kid's Club (an afterschool program). Pray that they will listen to the Bible stories told their and share them with family and friends. Pray that they and their families accept the Gospel.

  • Pray for the mission teams. Pray that God uses them entirely. Pray that they know when to rest. Pray that they would come back at another time. The mission teams are a huge part of the ministry and the ministry could not work as well without them so we love the mission teams! Also pray about bringing a mission team to work with Urban Nations Outreach.

  • Pray for all the traveling that will be taking place for mission teams and missionaries trying to get to New York.

  • Pray for New York City as a whole. Pray that God's kingdom comes in this city and in the hearts of all the people of this city.

  • Pray for my family and other missionaries families. It's hard to be a part from them for a long extended time. Pray that their will be no time for homesickness. Let the Lord be our comfort and strength. Pray that their would be no distractions from what God has called us to do.

  • Pray for the homeless. Lauren has made scarfs to hand out to the homeless and I am going to get some very warm socks for them. Pray that they would find jobs and homes and warmth during this winter season. Jesus told us to care for the poor because they would always be around so pray that they would be taken care of. Pray that people would remember that they are made in God's image too and God calls us to love people.

  • Also pray for a family from Kentucky and their son who I went to college with. He was in a bad car wreck and is now in a drug induced coma so that he can heal more efficiently. This family is trusting in the Lord so much right now. Please pray for healing and comfort for them. Thank you so much for reading this entire post and lifting these people up in prayer. I will post weekly.

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”" -Isaiah 6:8
