Visions and faithfulness.

One day I came home and told my family that God had called me to New York City. What a shock that was to hear. What a shock to everyone at church. I had been called to a place where I had said in the past that I would never go to. Before, I had no intentions of stepping my foot into the big rotten apple. But last spring God changed my heart. God showed me the beautiful ministry of Urban Nations Outreach. God showed me the beautiful immigrants that he created. Those immigrants humbled me in so many ways. Their need for the Gospel is so great. They showed me proper attitudes when my attitude wasn't Christlike. I desire to show them more about the Gospel.

So I've learned to finally not get upset when people ask the following questions:
"Why do you want to go there?"
"Are you running away from your family?"
"Did you find a guy up there?"

At first, these questions burned me up to my very core because I had expected people to be more encouraging and more excited that the Gospel was being shared with unbelievers. And then, God told me this:
"Amy, I gave this vision to you. Not to them."
How selfish of me to expect everyone to know and understand this vision. So now I'm more at peace and have patience when people ask me if I have ulterior motives because they don't understand. They weren't given this vision. To them, I'm just a modern, crazy Noah, building a massive boat because I believe the world is going to flood and all they see is dry ground and sunshine. I'm thankful that I have a friend who is going through the same sort of issue and that we can encourage one another in this.

Nonetheless, I'm staying faithful to this vision. Because it's where God has placed me. God has been faithful to me my entire life, through every trial so that this very moment could happen. I'm not giving up on the person he is molding me to be. I'm not giving up on people. I'm not giving up. I'm going to be faithful. Just like my God is faithful.

For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does

Psalm 33:4

15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

Psalm 86:15

"Never Once"

Standing on this mountaintop
Looking just how far we’ve come
Knowing that for every step
You were with us

Kneeling on this battle ground
Seeing just how much You’ve done
Knowing every victory
Was Your power in us

Scars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hearts can say
Yes, our hearts can say

Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful

Kneeling on this battle ground
Seeing just how much You’ve done
Knowing every victory
Was Your power in us

Scars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hearts can say
Yes, our hearts can say

Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful
You are faithful, God, You are faithful

Scars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hearts can say
Never once did we ever walk alone
Carried by Your constant grace
Held within Your perfect peace
Never once, no, we never walk alone

Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful

Every step we are breathing in Your grace
Evermore we’ll be breathing out Your praise
You are faithful, God, You are faithful
You are faithful, God, You are faithful

You are faithful, God, You are faithful
You are faithful, God, You are faithful
